Liz Oyer Says DOJ Lawyer Defending Trump’s Media Ban Admired Hitler and Nazi Propaganda

“I JUST DISCOVERED THAT THE LAWYER DEFENDING TRUMP’S MEDIA BAN IS AN ADMIRER OF ADOLF HITLER.”
That’s what former DOJ Pardon Attorney Liz Oyer said this week — about Michael Velchik, senior counsel in the DOJ’s Civil Division, the man who signed the administration’s legal defense of banning CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from the White House.
Per Boston Globe reporting: at Harvard, Velchik wrote a college essay from Hitler’s perspective and was told to redo the assignment. He’s reportedly described “Mein Kampf” as his favorite book. This is also the same lawyer leading DOJ’s case accusing Harvard of tolerating antisemitism — the irony writing itself.
Oyer’s response: “We need to get Nazis and misogynists out of our government. Is that too much to ask?”
A government that bans journalists for reporting things it doesn’t like, and staffs the legal defense of that ban with someone who reportedly idolizes Hitler, isn’t hiding what it is anymore. It’s showing you.
