Thiago Ávila, Brazilian activist and congressional candidate, says Brasil is facing the decisive election of a generation and he’s warning the world is watching the wrong fight.
With days left before the vote, Ávila claims Trump and Netanyahu are directly backing Bolsonaro’s son, while Lula holds only a narrow lead. He says his campaign and his team, have already faced physical attacks for daring to stand in the way.
His warning: if Brasil falls, U.S. imperialism and Zionist influence gain a foothold to spread across Latin America and the Global South.

They did it with Colombia. And now they want Brazil. And why Brazil? Because Brazil is the second biggest reserve of rare earth minerals. Brazil has the biggest river in the world. The two biggest aquifers, the biggest tropical forest, the biggest reserve of biodiversity, the biggest power for solar and wind energy. The potential for that in the entire planet, and Brazil is a huge country that has been not only vocal about the genocide in Palestine, vocal about the necessity to end imperialism and building a multipolar world. But Brazil is a country that is fragile. The national bourgeoisie here has dedicated their energy to increase the exploitation, oppression and destruction of nature. Despite our country being a huge power in this world. We’re still between the ten most unequal countries in the entire planet, and we need to stop that. Here we have the Bolsonaro candidacy, the Flavio Bolsonaro, Jair Bolsonaro son. Bolsonaro is in prison right now for attempting a coup for killing 700,000 people during the pandemic for using fake news for doing so much corruption schemes and so many things. His term is the same, but also even more connected with organized crime, with the paramilitaries, with the militia. And the worst that we have in this country even more connected with Benjamin Netanyahu, Donald Trump, but also JD Vance, the vice president who opened a Rockbridge branch, his company for far right intervention in many countries. Right here in Sao Paulo, where we are, we’re doing our everything, we’re giving our lives to make sure Lula gets reelected. Bolsonaro is blocked, the far right is blocked, and they don’t build a military fascist dictatorship here in our country. I’m also running for office in Brazil. We’re doing very well.
