Westpac works with Palantir, a military-grade software company known for privacy breaches and human rights violations. And Westpac still hasn’t told its customers how much of their personal financial data Palantir can reach.
GetUp’s position: there is no ethical partnership with this company. They say its technology is used to aid the genocide in Palestine, and by ICE in the US to hunt citizens and immigrants alike.
Your savings. Your transactions. Your mortgage. All of it, sitting in a bank that’s chosen to do business with Palantir.
And this isn’t a lost cause. Coles has just agreed to end its Palantir partnership after a GetUp campaign gathered tens of thousands of signatures. If a supermarket can walk away, so can a bank.

This company builds the systems Trump’s Ice forces used to hunt down innocent people for deportation. This company is Palantir and Westpac: You hired them. Palantir sells AI data and surveillance tech to militaries around the world, and was founded by far right billionaire and Jeffrey Epstein associate Peter Thiel. If you’re evil, you’re at least competent. So what is a company like this doing inside Westpac? they won’t say. And how much of our personal data can Palantir see? They won’t say. Westpac: You speak about the positive impact you have in the lives of millions of people. Your foundation invests millions in education. I’m Australian and I’m Palestinian, and I’ve watched Palantir aid in the injuring, killing and genocide of hundreds of thousands of my people in Gaza, including countless children targeted and killed in their homes and in their schools. I don’t want that company anywhere near my money or my personal data. Neither would millions of Australians and Westpac neither should you.
