THE UN NAMES THE MEDIA THAT HELPED NORMALIZE GAZA’S GENOCIDE
According to Palestine Times, the report names the BBC, The New York Times, CNN and Germany’s ZDF. Its charge: their coverage framed events in ways that hide who is responsible for Palestinian deaths, while pushing the Palestinian narrative to the margins.
It doesn’t stop with the newsrooms. The report also examines Meta, Alphabet (Google), X and TikTok, pointing to the suppression of Palestinian content, and to Israeli propaganda and anti-Palestinian incitement spreading on the same platforms.
Think about what that adds up to. The outlets that decide how the story is told. The platforms that decide who’s allowed to tell it. Both accused of making Gaza’s destruction easier to look away from.
The report’s own warning: media framing and digital censorship can undermine the effort to document violations and hold those responsible to account.
When the people who shape what you see are named in a UN report, ask who benefits from what you’re not seeing.
