“Halutzei Gaza is now a real settlement, with a permanent building,” she says. “Anyone can come. Everyone’s welcome.”
It’s called “Pioneers of Gaza,” and it sits on the border facing Gaza City. More than 700 activists from the Nachala settlement movement set it up overnight, with Knesset members and a government minister’s party colleagues among those cheering them on. Police were there too, supervising in case the settlers tried to breach the border fence.
Think about what this is. A population starved, bombed and displaced, and the people eyeing their land are holding a family day with inflatables, cotton candy and a children’s theater.
This isn’t a fringe fantasy. Government figures are applauding, and the army and police are protecting it. They’re saying it plainly: this is about taking land.
Settle Gaza? That’s not security. That’s a land grab dressed up as pioneering.
How long before the world calls it by its name?
