Millions Protest Across Brazil Against Trump-Backed Bolsonaro Ahead of October 25 Vote
October 12, 2026
NO TO THE FATHER! NO TO THE SON!
Brazil is fighting for its democracy, and the world needs to be watching.
Thousands marched through downtown Rio de Janeiro, students leading the way, chanting “Never again Bolsonaro” and carrying signs that said “No to the father, no to the son.” The march came days after Flávio Bolsonaro finished first in the opening round and set up an October 25 runoff against President Lula.
They remember what the Bolsonaro name already cost them: more than 700,000 pandemic deaths, cuts to universities and free medicine, and a coup attempt after the 2022 election. Jair Bolsonaro is serving 27 years for it. Now his son is promising to seek amnesty for him.
“Brazil isn’t anyone’s backyard.” “I don’t vote for someone who sells Brazil.” Those were the signs on the streets.
Brazil’s students are standing up. The least the rest of us can do is stand with them.
Share this. Talk about it. Don’t let the world look away from the runoff.
Stand with Brasil.
