October 19, 2026

النص العربي:
DAIZY: How can they then continue to claim to be a democracy?
GIDEON LEVY: It was quite a joke. Israel is a democracy for its Jewish citizens, no doubt. But how can you define a state, a regime, a system in which five million people are living under maybe the most brutal tyranny in the world today and call it a democracy?
DAIZY: So I keep coming back to one question: if Netanyahu loses, does anything really change for Palestinians, for Israelis, for Lebanon, for Israel’s place in the world?
GIDEON LEVY: The only real issue which is at stake, which divides Israel in a very deep way, is Netanyahu, yes or no? Any other government will be better for the Israelis. I doubt it very much that it will be also better for the Palestinians. The opposition will not be able to create a government without the support of the Arab parties.
DAIZY: But do you think that there is still support for Netanyahu in the American administration or do they care?
GIDEON LEVY: Not at all. He lost everyone. He lost Donald Trump. Israel is today toxic in the United States and toxic in Europe. Supporting Israel will kill any candidate. The international community will have to decide, do you accept another apartheid state?
