Canadian Healthcare Worker Condemns Canada’s Support for Israel During Fiery Palestine Confrontation

“I THINK EVERYONE IN THIS ROOM HAS LOST THEIR F**KING MINDS”
A healthcare worker stood up in a room full of people debating Israel, and said what she couldn’t stay quiet about.
“I’m a healthcare worker. I’m still trying to justify how we are here. There’s a state that is committing genocide.”
She talked about what she says she’s seen: hospitals, universities and schools hit across Gaza. Mothers undergoing C-sections and babies delivered without anesthesia. A toddler pulled out of a tent that was on fire. And she asked why 5-year-old Hind Rajab was shot hundreds of times in a car.
Her challenge to the room: people were crying about being called Zionists while Palestinians are being killed. “It’s not a war. It is a genocide.”
She was met with objections. Some in the room argued that Jews in Canada are being threatened and attacked simply for being Jewish, and she was told the Canadian and Israeli governments aren’t the same as their people. She pointed out that the Canadian government sends tax dollars and F-35 parts to Israel.
The room was uncomfortable. That was the point.
Kelsey says she isn’t under any illusion that she’ll change anyone’s mind. She wants the world to see what’s being said, and what’s being defended, in rooms like this.
