CNN correspondent Jeremy Diamond reports from Tel Aviv, where thousands of Israelis protested against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu three days before consequential elections.
Israel votes on October 27, in an election Netanyahu has fought to delay and shape since October 7. Polls over the summer showed opposition parties, led by former prime minister Naftali Bennett and a popular former military chief, gaining support.
This is the leader who has gone through two years of war on Gaza, a hostage crisis, a corruption trial and a government that governs through its far-right partners. Now his own citizens are in the streets telling him it’s over.
Think about what that means. The man who claims to speak for Israel is being protested by thousands of Israelis, days before they get to vote on him.
That’s what a country looks like when it’s tired of the leader who promised security and delivered war without end.
