Serbia’s Student List Defeats Vucic Ally and Vows Not to Be Complicit in Gaza War
October 26, 2026
NETANYAHU’S FRIEND JUST LOST AN ELECTION. SERBIA’S STUDENTS WON.
Aleksandar Vučić, Serbia’s strongman for more than a decade, conceded defeat on Sunday night. The student-led “Student List” took roughly 51 to 53% of the vote in Serbia’s snap parliamentary election, and Vučić himself projected it would win between 135 and 140 seats, to his party’s roughly 105.
Two years of protests against corruption and creeping authoritarianism ended with the voters of Serbia taking the country back.
And Gaza is part of the story. According to the post, under Vučić Belgrade expanded its military ties with Israel, with a surge in weapons exports over the past three years and plans for a joint drone assembly plant with Israeli arms giant Elbit Systems.
The Student List’s manifesto says something very different. As quoted by @thelastturtle : “Our people know well what it means to be a victim of genocide and ethnic cleansing, and therefore we will oppose any form of oppression of the weaker by the stronger.” And: “We will not be complicit in the systematic attempt to destroy the Palestinian people that Israel is carrying out in the Gaza Strip, and we will intensify the sending of humanitarian aid to Palestine.”
Read that again. A government that built its foreign policy on arms deals with Israel just lost to a movement that promised not to be complicit.
Netanyahu keeps losing friends. Brazil. Serbia. Governments that once looked away are being voted out by people who won’t.
A strongman who armed a war lost his power. A generation of students who refused to be complicit just inherited a country.
Who’s next?

Radomir Saicic: Well, after two years of suffering, of battle for right or freedom, for justice, under repression against unions, against the Serbian citizens. Here we are now at a point to turn all this and to start building free and prospective country where our children live with us, not live abroad to continue their lives elsewhere because now they have the opportunity to live here with us. So we are very happy of course and proud of their achievement.
