U.S. PLEAS WITH DIFFERENT NATIONS TO RESTRAIN IRAN IRAN SLAMS HYPOCRISY
April 12, 2024The United States has called upon several states as it desperately tries to avert an Iranian retaliatory response following Israel’s bombing of the Iranian embassy in Damascus, two weeks ago.
“We have also engaged with European allies and partners over the past few days and urged them as well to send a clear message to Iran: that escalation is not in Iran’s interest, it’s not in the region’s interest and it’s not in the world’s interest,” said State Department spokesperson Matt Miller.
They have reached out to China, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia and other states, urging them to leverage Iran to not launch a strike.
US officials still believe that a direct Iranian missile or drone strike is possible within the next few days,
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Israel would retaliate against any attack on its interests, saying his forces were “prepared” for any external threats to the Jewish state. “Whoever harms us, we will harm them,” he said.
In response to calls made to the Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, he put out a post on X demanding these states condemn Israel’s violation of International law. He reiterated that Iran does NOT seek escalation of the war but is merely responding to a violation of their sovereignty.
“I also urged 🇩🇪 🇬🇧 🇦🇺 to explicitly express their positions in condemnation of this terrorist crime by the Israeli regime. Iran is not seeking escalation of hostility.”
Additionally, Iran, on a call with Turkiye, has demanded that they, alongside other Muslim countries, CUT TIES with Israel!
