LEBANON WILL SIDE WITH HEZBOLLAH IF ISRAEL THREATENS WAR
July 29, 2024Lebanese caretaker Foreign Minister, Abdallah Rashid Bouhabib, has threatened to side with Hezbollah against Israel if Israel expands its attacks on Lebanon.
“If the war expands, Lebanon will officially side with Hezbollah, and it will side with the Lebanese state, and we will defend Lebanon.”
Commenting on a possible escalation between Israel and Hezbollah following an attack Majdal Shams, Bouhabib stated that Hezbollah is ready to withdraw beyond the Litani River — which runs some 29 kilometers (18 miles) north of the Israel-Lebanon border — if Israel halts its violations.
In an interview with the Saudi-owned Al Hadath news channel, Beirut’s top diplomat adds that Israel must “think carefully” before striking Lebanon, and that an escalation will affect Israel and the whole region.
