SHOULD HEZBOLLAH HAVE INTERVENED AGAINST ISRAEL?
August 25, 2024Other than GAZA, Lebanon is the only country that has endured death, destruction and devastation since the October 7th attack by Hamas resulted in an un-Godly act of revenge by the demonic Zionist regime that has hijacked Israel. More than 550 people have been killed including at least 250 civilians, homes, churches, and roads have been destroyed, thousands of hectares of agricultural land poisoned by Israel’s white phosphorus attacks.
We know we are the next target for Israel’s sickening, unlawful, unrestrained vengeance. While negotiations persist in Doha, many foreigners have left Lebanon and hundreds of thousands of Lebanese expats that normally return for the summer either didn’t come or left early.
For those who remain, and those like me who could have left but have decided to stay and continue to provide independent coverage as the situation on the ground escalates, the uncertainty is proving to be our biggest challenge.
Last week, I decided to canvass the pulse on the streets of the capital Beirut and travelled to outer-lying areas to compare the responses.
This is Part three of a four-part series that I will be sharing this week to keep you abreast of what the Lebanese think, feel and fear.
In this part, I address the question – “”Should Hezbollah have intervened against Israel?””
Despite the expected differences on Hezbollah as an entity, it was interesting to see the support of a ‘front against Israel’.
Check it out and share to support our PLEA for PEACE and an END to the MADNESS.

English Script:
Daizy Gedeon: In your opinion, should Hezbollah have intervened in the war in Palestine?
Unknown 2 women: Yes, because of everything happening in Palestine, Hezbollah had to interfere.
Jawad: Okay. Regarding the war and the support front to Gaza, the enemy, if we had not opened a war against them, they would have opened a war against us, believe me. We cannot leave Gaza alone because they (Israel) attacked us before. The people who say that we should not attack them, the enemy already attacked you before and when they get the chance to attack you, they will do so again.
Ziad: From one point of view is, again I’m not stating my own stance, from one point of view, it’s very reassuring to know that we have a line of defense. From another point of view, you think that maybe it can have a lot of negative repercussion on the country.
Samira: I really support the Gaza children and everything. I feel very, very, very sorry for them. But the thing is, no we shouldn’t be involved I think in this war. If we could have managed peace negotiations, things would have been better for everyone. We would have saved this beautiful country, it’s a beautiful city.
Charbel: In my opinion today, it’s not about Hezbollah and Israel alone, it’s about an entire population. Today, our people are dying. Why? What for? The war must stop altogether.
Daizy Gedeon: What is your opinion on Hezbollah’s stance on the war and its involvement in the conflict with Israel?
Hussein: Hezbollah is defending Lebanon. We still have occupied lands in the South and Hezbollah and the resistance are defending them. We are in the right, we’re not aggressors and we are the ones being attacked. Israel is bombing both Gaza and South Lebanon, not only Gaza. When they finish from Gaza they will eventually come to Lebanon. As a Lebanese citizen, I prefer peace over war, because Lebanon is tired of wars but our enemy loves war and is treacherous. However, we prefer a peaceful solution for ourselves, our families, the future generations and so our country can have peace.
Akl: As a Lebanese citizen, I only care about myself, I care about my country. We should care about ourselves, our affairs, and about our needs and how should we improve our country alone, without anyone interfering with us or us interfering with anyone. They know if what they did is right or wrong, but for me it’s very wrong. What is happening is bigger than us.
Daizy Gedeon: Do you think Hezbollah should retaliate or should it stop involving Lebanon and creating more possibility of more damage and destruction for Lebanon?
Karim Grinch: Do you mean that Hezbollah should stop the war? It’s not their call, it’s not their decision to stop the war, in my opinion.
Daizy Gedeon: Whose decision is it?
Karim Grinch: It’s the decision of the regional countries and Iran. It’s up to Gaza’s negotiations. When a truce happens in Gaza, we will have a truce here.
Daizy Gedeon: Do you think Hezbollah should not have been involved in the war? Should they have taken a different stance?
Raymond: Hezbollah should have been stopped, not from now, but since Resolution 1559 was issued. All militias should have handed over their weapons to the state. The state is the constitution and the law. When we abide by the law and the constitution, why should there be weapons other than the state’s weapons?
Daizy Gedeon: Do you think Hezbollah should have intervened in the war or not?
Joe: Whether it’s Hezbollah or anyone else, wars should no longer happen anywhere in the world not only in Lebanon because we’ve had enough. Let us live in peace, to work and make money so our families can live.
