ومن خلال مقابلات مع مسؤولين سابقين في «إيباك»، وأشخاص من داخل المنظمة، وسياسيين، ومبلّغين عن مخالفات، يتتبع “نايت فلاور” كيف تحوّلت إحدى أقوى جماعات الضغط في الولايات المتحدة من مجموعة مناصرة أسسها شخص واحد إلى قوة تؤثر في الانتخابات الأمريكية، وتموّل منافسين في الانتخابات التمهيدية، وتفرض، بعيدًا عن الأنظار، عقوبات سياسية على المسؤولين الذين يخرجون عن الخط.
ويعود الفيلم مرارًا إلى السؤال نفسه: هل تعمل «إيباك» كوكيل أجنبي لحكومة أجنبية؟ أشخاص عملوا داخلها يقدّمون أخيرًا إجاباتهم أمام الكاميرا، وهم يخشون ما قد يحدث لهم بسبب حديثهم.
إذا كان أشخاص بهذه الدرجة من القرب من هذه المنظومة يخافون من التحدث، فإن هذا الخوف بحد ذاته هو القصة.
