ENOUGH! Lebanon’s Darkest Hour
ENOUGH! Lebanon’s Darkest Hour
The eyes of the world have been turned towards Lebanon time and again in recent years – not in awe of its beauty, history or culture, but instead with pity over its tragic deterioration.
Featuring incisive, world exclusive interviews with political and institutional leaders, civil activists, regional experts, whistle-blowers, and Lebanese people in Lebanon and around the world, ENOUGH! both details the nature of the current crisis and explains the only viable, peaceful solution out of it. In July 2021, it premiered at the Marche du Film at the Cannes Film Festival, where it won the prestigious Movie That Matters Award.
An updated version of this film examining the results of the May 2022 elections is currently in production.
Lebanon…Imprisoned Splendour
Daizy wanted people to love Lebanon as much as she did, so she decided to make a film…
The Imprisoned Splendour that is Lebanon, manifests itself on many different levels. Its unique religious and cultural dichotomies, its geographical and historical position in global events and its future role in a volatile and turbulent Middle East.
This film showcases Lebanon’s natural beauty and location at the heart of the Middle East, and the spirit of hospitality and generosity of its people, which creates an oasis that is the Lebanese people’s international legacy. It also examines the strong family unit, an endemic feature of Lebanese society, which has proved to be a binding and empowering force in a nation devastated by war. The film’s pervading themes are emphasised through the words of the great Lebanese poet, writer and philosopher – Kahlil Gibran – one of Lebanon’s greatest National Treasures.
Through interviews with key figures, Gedeon explores issues that are deep-seated within an historical, cultural and religious context and which form the basis of fundamental differences that underlie Lebanon today. We will seek to discover whether the emotional scars of the war can ever be healed, and at what cost. By unlocking these issues, we will seek to release the “Imprisoned Splendour” that is a stepping stone to harmony within… Lebanon.
