BIDEN SILENT ON PALESTINIAN DEATHS DURING THANKSGIVING SPEECH 2023
November 27, 2023I was extremely disappointed watching US President Joe Biden’s Thanksgiving address on the weekend. Thanksgiving is a time for gratitude and reflection on our humanity. Sadly, what I witnessed was not the speech I had hoped that the alleged leader of the “Free World” would or should be making during these darkest of times for humanity.
His speech was focused almost entirely on the Israeli and foreign hostages that were released by Hamas over the weekend, but sadly did not mention the Palestinian hostages, some of them children and women who had been held in Israeli jails for years without proper recourse to justice and on trumped-up charges. We are all grateful for the safe return of the Israeli hostages and pray that the remaining hostages make it back to their families safely. But don’t the Palestinians deserve similar consideration?
Biden’s speech also failed to acknowledge the more than 15,000 Palestinians, 8000 of whom were children and babies, who were killed during Isr@el’s savage onslaught following the October 7 attacks by Hamas on Isr@eli military personnel and civilians. NO ONE, in particular me, is condoning the attacks by Hamas. I condemn any violence especially when it results in the deaths of innocent people. However, on Thanksgiving of all days, one would have expected a greater demonstration of compassion and humanity for the Palestinians following the horrors they have endured for the past 8 weeks.
If the US President can pardon a turkey on Thanksgiving, I would think he could have at least shared two words of sorrow for the Palestinian children who have been orphaned, the parents who have lost their babies and families, the more than two-million civilians whose lives have been uprooted, destroyed, demolished, liquidated in a flash of an eye by a ruthless military force that claims to be targeting Hamas, but has now been exposed on prime time media as well as on social media, as conducting an ethnic cleansing operation to eradicate the Palestinians and complete the annexation of their land.
We will not remain SILENT.

English Script:
Biden: Today, We can also be thankful of families being recruited and reunited with loved ones who have been held hostage for nearly 50 days
Earlier this morning, 13 Israeli hostages were released, including an elderly woman, a grandmother and mothers with their four young children.
Some under the age of six years old. Separately, several Thai nationals and Filipino nationals were also kidnapped by Hamas.
We also remember all those who are still being held and renew our commitment to work for their release as well.
Daizy: BUT WHAT I FOUND UNNERVING WAS THE ABSENCE OF ANY MENTION OF THE PALESTINIAN HOSTAGES NOR THE HORRENDOUS DEATH TOLL ON THE PALESTINIAN SIDE.
NOR ANY SENSE OF REMORSE OR COMPASSION FOR THE TREMENDOUS SUFFERING THE PALESTINIANS IN GAZA AND THEIR RELATIVES ALL AROUND THE WORLD HAVE BEEN ENDURING.
THE ONLY REFERENCE TO THE PALESTINIAN SUFFERING WAS BIDEN’S BRIEF COMMENT REGARDING THE HUMANITARIAN AID THAT HAS BEEN ABLE TO BE INCREASED SIGNIFICANTLY DURING THIS PAUSE IN FIGHTING.
Biden: I’ve been focused on accelerating the delivery of humanitarian assistance to Gaza in coordination with the United Nations and the Red Cross. I just spoke with my special envoy for the Middle East, humanitarian issues, David Satterfield, for an update. And I’ve asked him to monitor our progress hour by hour and keep me personally informed.
Daizy: THEN BIDEN QUICKLY CHANGED TACT AND STARTED TALKING ABOUT THE POLITICAL SOLUTION
Biden: We need to renew our resolve to pursue this two state solution where Israelis and Palestinians can one day live side by side and a two state solution with equal measure of freedom and dignity. Two states for two peoples. And it’s more important now than ever.
Daizy: WE ALL AGREE THE POLITICAL SOLUTION IS THE ONLY SOLUTION OF THIS NEARLY 100-YEAR CYCLE OF VIOLENCE, BECAUSE THE VIOLENCE DID START WELL BEFORE 1948…
BUT THANKSGIVING IS A TIME WHERE WE WOULD EXPECT OUR LEADER TO REFLECT UPON OUR COLLECTIVE HUMANITY AND SHOW CONSIDERATION, COMPASSION AND GRATITUDE FOR ALL OF GOD’S CREATURES.
IF THE PRESIDENT CAN PARDON A TURKEY ON THANKSGIVING, DO THE PALESTINIANS NO DESERVE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
