Barry Trachtenberg: In our lawsuit that’s supported by the Center for Constitutional Rights, we argue that the United States is both complicit in this genocide, and we accuse it of failure to stop the genocide. What we can do is we can work in the U.S. court system because this is where we’re based, and it’s the United States which is giving unprecedented levels of funding and political cover for this violence.
So we have to try every strategy imaginable and hopefully by getting the United States into court, they will be formally put on notice and they’ll have to defend themselves and they’ll have to show why this murder of 15,000 civilians, the displacement of 1.9 million, is not somehow akin to genocide.
