SILENCE IS COMPLIANCE
February 28, 2024In a poignant address to the European Parliament, Abir Al-Sahlani, a Swedish Member of the European Parliament, delivered a powerful message highlighting the dire situation in Gaza and the failure of the international community to effectively address it.
Sahlani’s words resonated with a sense of urgency and frustration as she decried the absence of meaningful action and the prevalence of hypocrisy in addressing the plight of Palestinians. She lamented the failure of collective humanity to prevent the ongoing suffering in Gaza, underscoring the stark reality that human rights are often contingent on one’s skin color.
Moreover, Sahlani boldly confronted attempts to silence dissenting voices by equating criticism of Israeli policies with anti-Semitism. She emphasized that such efforts only serve to perpetuate violence and oppression against Palestinians.
In her closing remarks, Sahlani expressed a sense of disappointment and disillusionment with the current state of affairs, acknowledging the grim truth that despite pledges to uphold human rights, the cycle of violence and injustice persists.
Let us not remain silent in the face of oppression.
Silence is compliance.

Abir AL Sahlani: There are no more words to speak about what’s going on in Gaza. Mr. President of this session, there are no more laws to break. There are no more appeals that we can do to what’s going on. The hypocrisy is obvious. Our collective humane has failed. We said that we won’t fail, but we are failing again. Human rights have a skin color, and the darker you are, the less human rights you have. We have been tried to be silenced. They have tried to make us look like anti-Semites. They have tried to make us look like we don’t care about the safety of the Israeli people. All of that still to make it possible to kill more Palestinians. Unfortunately.
