PALESTINIANS WEEP WHILE ISRAELI SOLDIER CELEBRATES THE WASTELAND OF KHAN YOUNES
April 9, 2024As Israeli forces withdrew from all parts of Khan Younes in southern Gaza, one Israeli soldier reveled in the destruction he was personally responsible for by sharing a video and mocking that there will be no school because there is no school. “The school is gone.”
Israel has made Khan Younes a wasteland and left nothing for returning civilians to reclaim or rebuild. There is only rubble and underneath that rubble, and unknown number of dead bodies belonging to their loved ones, friends, neighbours, fellow citizens – Palestinians.
The sadness captured in the cries of one Palestinian who returned to find her six-storey home reduced to sand and rocks, asking “Where will we go. What will we do?” referring to her family. Her children, grandchildren, family members, left with nothing.
If and when the fighting ends, the heartbreak and hardship will continue and the road back long, hard and terrifying.
But first let’s pray for an end to the bombings and deaths.
