TURKIYE’S ERDOGAN SAYS ISRAEL RESPONSIBLE FOR ESCALATING CONFLICT!
April 20, 2024Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, said that Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israeli leadership bear sole responsibility for the recent escalation of tensions in the Middle East.
This speech comes amidst the threat of an Israeli retaliation on Iran. On April 13, Iran launched a retaliatory attack on Israel sending hundreds of drones and missiles in response to the Israeli strike on the Iranian Consulate in Damascus on April 1st. Consequently, Israel has threatened a response risking further escalation in the region.
“The main one responsible for the tension that gripped our hearts on the evening of April 13th is Netanyahu and his bloody administration.”
Erdogan has been a vocal critic of Netanyahu despite Turkiye’s being an important trade partner to Israel, exporting things like agricultural products, machinery and textiles.
Last week, however, Turkiye announced export trade restrictions to Israel on 54 products including cement, steel, aluminium, iron construction materials and equipment in response to Israel’s invasion of Gaza.
“It is a significant step by Turkey and a change in policy because until now, Turkey refused to impose any economic relations with Israel. Even during periods of high tensions on the political level, economic relations continued almost uninterrupted,” Gallia Lindenstrauss, a senior researcher at the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS), said.
Turkiye is one of the strongest powers in the Middle East. It MUST lead the way against Israel, not just verbally but with more economic sanctions and diplomatic influence.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan: The main one responsible for the tension that gripped our hearts on the evening of April 13 is Netanyahu and his bloody administration. One won’t get anywhere by constantly increasing the tension. Adding fuel to the fire and constantly pampering the Netanyahu administration does not benefit anyone. We invite all actors to stop the attacks and act responsibly.
