Four European Countries Announce Eurovision Boycott After Israel Approved — Major Backlash Erupts
December 8, 2025
After the EBU decided Israel could still perform at Eurovision —
despite the mass death, displacement, and destruction in Gaza —
countries are saying ENOUGH.
Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands, Slovenia
have all announced they will boycott Eurovision,
refusing to take part in a competition that claims to celebrate “unity”
while platforming a state accused of grave human rights violations.
This boycott matters.
It sends a message louder than any performance:
We will not normalize apartheid.
We will not dance over graves.
We will not stay silent.
Your voice has power.
Use it.

English Script:
Paul Harrington: Look, there’s been problems in the past. There’s been boycotts. People have withdrawn many, many years ago, even during the whole voting system. It will have an impact. I mean, I think the sad thing about the whole thing and. Okay, for obvious reasons, there’s nothing as sad as what has been going on in Gaza, for sure. And why broadcasters and countries want to make this statement, but the truth of the matter is the people who are going to be affected by this are going to be the participants. You know, who are, you know, this is a big thing for them in their lives, going into a huge song contest, going to be seen by millions of people. And, you know, again, the whole idea of the Eurovision Song Contest was to bring everybody together, leave the politics outside the door, and I don’t know what the ultimate impact will be, but it certainly will have an effect for sure. And if the several other countries like Netherlands and Spain and you know, maybe there’ll be safety in numbers when everyone has to try and get back in again. I don’t know, but, broadly speaking, I would have to say I would not like to have been at that meeting today in Geneva.
