Lebanese Priest Killed in South Lebanon — Final Words: “I Am Ready to Die in My Home”
March 9, 2026
Father Pierre Al-Rahi, the parish priest of Qlayaa in South Lebanon, was killed by an Israeli strike in his village today while helping a wounded person nearby.
He had refused to abandon the town and chose to remain at home with several residents despite the escalating violence in the nearby villages since the start of Israel’s war on Lebanon and despite the evacuations notices that were issued to all residents of the South of Litany river few days ago.
Just days earlier, Father Pierre had said:
“We have decided to remain here despite the danger, because these are our homes and we will not leave them. We will not allow anyone to enter our village and use it for anything.”
“When we defend our land and home we will do it peacefully”
Although peaceful and unarmed Father Pierre Al-Rahi was killed by Israel.
He is a huge loss to his family, the village and the community.
Civilians should not pay the price of war.
According to latest government information 498 civilians have been killed since Israel’s invasion on Lebanon.
