“International Law Is Being Violated” — Pedro Sánchez Issues Stark Warning
April 16, 2026
“International law is currently being violated primarily by one country: the Israeli government,” said Pedro Sánchez.
Speaking during an official visit to China, the Spanish prime minister said Israel bears responsibility for breaches of international law in the ongoing conflicts in Gaza and amid escalating tensions involving Iran and Lebanon.
Sánchez added that many in Spain do not want alleged violations in Gaza to go unpunished or to see similar violence repeated in Lebanon.
The remarks came as Spain seeks to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties with China against the backdrop of rising instability in the Middle East.
