Sydney Rallies for Lebanon as Hundreds Protest Israeli Attacks and Demand Peace
April 17, 2026
SYDNEY STANDS IN SOLIDARITY.
The steps of Sydney Town Hall were transformed into a sea of candles as the Lebanese Action Group led a powerful vigil to honor the lives lost in the ongoing bombardment of Lebanon.
With over 2,100 people killed, including 168 children, the diaspora and supporters gathered to turn their grief into a collective demand for peace. This wasn’t just about mourning; it was about calling for global accountability and an end to the unbridled aggression tearing families apart.
Maha Melhem and other speakers from the Lebanese Action Group made it clear: the world can no longer look away. Social media has brought the reality of this war into our homes, and Sydney’s heart beat for Beirut last night.
As candles were laid across the Lebanese flag, the message to our government was loud and clear, Lebanon cannot be an afterthought in these peace talks.
Humanity must come first. 🇦🇺🇱🇧
