Lebanese MPs Back Government in Strong Show of Sovereignty and National Unity
April 17, 2026
In a stirring speech from the heart of patient, embracing Beirut, MP Paula Yacoubian has issued a powerful call for national solidarity and the re-establishment of state authority. Standing with a unified bloc of Beirut MPs, Yacoubian is demanding that the capital be declared a weapon-free city, strictly governed by the Lebanese State and its official security forces.
Saluting the steadfast residents of the South facing the most violent aggression and the displaced families seeking refuge in the North, the Bekaa, and Beirut, Yacoubian’s message was clear: Lebanon belongs to the Lebanese.
Yacoubian questioned how any official or citizen could reject the 1990 decision to keep Beirut free of illegal arms.
In a bold rejection of polarized politics, she declared: “We are neither Zionists nor Persians. We are Lebanese who fear for our country and love it.”
Yacoubian warned that victory of one internal group over another is a defeat for everyone. She called for a true victory over corruption and sedition (fitna) through national unity.
By focusing on Beirut, she highlighted that the capital represents all ideas and all people and its safety is the prerequisite for the survival of the entire nation.
Paula Yacoubian is positioning the State as the only legitimate protector of every inch of land and every citizen.
Thank you to Paula and all MPs who stand with the state in defense of sovereignty and the rights of all citizens. Share her words.
