Hungary’s Incoming Leader Says Netanyahu Could Face Arrest if He Enters Country
April 22, 2026
From Budapest to Tel Aviv, Hungary’s Prime Minister-elect Péter Magyar has officially declared that the era of impunity is over. Following his historic election victory on April 12, 2026, ending Viktor Orbán’s 16-year rule, Magyar has announced he will immediately halt Hungary’s withdrawal from the International Criminal Court (ICC).
For years, Orbán was Netanyahu’s closest shield in Europe, even attempting to rip Hungary out of the ICC just to protect the Israeli leader from war crimes warrants. But the clock is running out.
Despite a previous invitation for Netanyahu to visit Budapest in October, Magyar’s message is blunt: Hungary will honor its international obligations. If Benjamin Netanyahu—wanted by the ICC for crimes against humanity and the use of starvation as a weapon of war in Gaza and Lebanon—steps foot in Hungary, he won’t be met with a handshake. He will be met with handcuffs.
THANK YOU HUNGARY.

Peter Magyar: I made it clear to the Israeli Prime Minister that we are not re-entering, because my colleagues have examined the matter, and we can still stop the withdrawal from the ICC until June 2. The firm intention of the Tisza government is to halt this process and ensure that Hungary remains a member of the International Criminal Court. If someone is a member of the International criminal court and a person who is wanted enters our country, then he should be taken into custody…I don’t have to say everything on the phone. I assume that every head of state and government is familiar with these laws.
