Over 1,000 Artists Call for Eurovision Song Contest 2026 Boycott Over Israel’s Participation
April 23, 2026
What is being described as the largest boycott in the 70-year history of Eurovision is gaining massive momentum. More than 1,100 artists, including icons like Massive Attack, Paul Weller, and Brian Eno, have signed an open letter via the “No Music for Genocide” campaign, demanding the exclusion of the Israeli broadcaster KAN.
The pressure isn’t just coming from artists; five major broadcasters (Spain, Ireland, Iceland, the Netherlands, and Slovenia) have already pulled out of the 2026 contest in Vienna. The petition highlights a perceived “hypocrisy” by the EBU, noting that Russia was banned within 24 hours of its invasion of Ukraine, while Israel remains welcomed despite ongoing military strikes in Gaza and Lebanon.
Is a Eurovision without five major European nations still Eurovision?
NO.
KEEP BOYCOTTING.
