COPENHAGEN POLICE BEAT PEACEFUL PROTESTERS TO PROTECT MAERSK AS IT PROFITS FROM SHIPPING WEAPONS FOR ISRAEL’S GENOCIDE
The streets of Copenhagen turned into a battlefield on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, as Danish police chose to protect corporate profits over the lives of Palestinians. Activists from Den Grønne Ungdomsbevægelse (The Green Youth Movement) and the Mask Off Maersk campaign attempted to block the headquarters of shipping giant Maersk, only to be met with batons and brute force.
While the police were busy arresting 20 activists, Maersk was busy continuing its role as the invisible backbone of the arms supply chain to Israel.
Around 100 activists were surrounded and ordered to leave while demanding that Maersk stop transporting weapon components. When they refused to move, police used force to clear the entrance, prioritizing the business as usual of a company accused of complicity in war crimes.
Research from the Palestinian Youth Movement has tracked over 2,100 shipments of military cargo on Maersk ships destined for the Israeli Ministry of Defense.
The Danish government likes to lecture the world on human rights, yet they send their police to beat the youth who are actually standing up for them. You can’t wash the blood off your hands when you’re the one shipping the weapons.
