Harvard Medical School Graduate Breaks Silence With Powerful Pro-Palestine and Lebanon Speech
June 1, 2026
“We were told to stay silent.”
But Leen Ezzedine refused.
At one of the most prestigious medical institutions in the world, the Harvard Medical School graduate used her 2026 Class Day address to speak about Lebanon, Palestine and the responsibility of witnessing suffering without looking away.
In a moment when many students choose safe and carefully scripted remarks, she chose courage.
She chose to speak about people living under bombardment, displacement and loss.
She chose to speak for those whose voices are too often excluded from elite institutions, political conversations and mainstream media coverage.
Universities often celebrate leadership, integrity and moral courage.
Those values mean very little if they disappear when speaking out becomes uncomfortable.
Bravo to Leen Ezzedine for using one of the biggest moments of her life to stand for something bigger than herself.
History is shaped not only by those who hold power.
But by those who refuse to stay silent in the face of injustice.
