Mike Huckabee sparks controversy after invoking Jews’ biblical claim to Israel and referring to Jews as God’s chosen people during a university speech.
June 3, 2026
Mike Huckabee, U.S. Ambassador to Israel, used a graduation speech to declare himself an “unapologetic Zionist” and argue that the Jewish people were chosen by God and given the land of Israel thousands of years ago.
Let that sink in.
At a time when Gaza has been reduced to rubble, entire Palestinian families have been wiped out, millions have faced displacement, starvation and siege, and international courts are investigating allegations of war crimes, one of America’s most senior diplomats is not talking about international law.
He is talking about biblical entitlement.
For Palestinians, this is exactly the problem.
For decades, their dispossession, displacement and suffering have been justified through narratives that place one people’s claim above another’s existence.
The question many are asking is simple:
Where do Palestinians fit into this vision?
If the land was divinely assigned thousands of years ago, what happens to the people who have lived there for generations?
What happens to their rights?
Their homes?
Their history?
Their future?
The world cannot claim to support justice while ignoring the people paying the highest price.
