Education under attack.
Four female students from Birzeit University have been detained by Israeli forces following a series of overnight raids across the Ramallah area in the occupied West Bank.
Jolan Abu Awwad.
Sama Safi.
Leila Na’el Khalil.
Natalie Abu Diah.
Four young women whose university studies have now been interrupted by arrest.
According to reports, the students were taken from their homes and student housing during pre-dawn raids, adding to growing concerns over the targeting of Palestinian students and academic institutions.
The arrest of Natalie Abu Diah, a media and journalism student, has drawn particular condemnation from church leaders and human rights advocates.
Rev. Munther Isaac described the detentions as part of a long-standing pattern, noting that Birzeit University has repeatedly faced raids, arrests and restrictions that undermine the right to education.
Universities should be places of learning.
Not targets.
Students should be preparing for exams.
Not waking up to armed raids in the middle of the night.
And no student should have to fear arrest for pursuing it!!
