Iran Halts U.S. Ceasefire Talks After Israeli Strikes In South Lebanon Kill 18 People
June 19, 2026
ISRAEL BOMBS LEBANON. IRAN WALKS AWAY FROM THE TABLE.
Iran has reportedly suspended the next phase of ceasefire negotiations with the United States following a deadly wave of Israeli airstrikes across southern Lebanon that left at least 18 people dead and 33 wounded.
According to Iranian officials, talks will not move forward until there are clear guarantees that Israel will abide by the proposed agreement, including commitments related to Lebanon’s sovereignty and an end to military attacks.
The overnight strikes hit at least 11 Lebanese towns, including Harouf, Doueir, Sharqiyeh, Abbasiyeh, Qatrani, Jebchit, Qaaqaaiyet al-Jisr, Nabatieh, Kfar Sir, Adchit and Habboush.
Lebanon’s Health Ministry said the attacks were so intense that rescue teams struggled to reach victims trapped under the rubble, with strikes reportedly hindering evacuation efforts.
While diplomats talk about peace, Israeli warplanes continue to bomb villages, destroy communities and kill civilians.
The latest escalation has once again placed Lebanese civilians at the center of a conflict they did not choose, paying with their lives while world powers negotiate over their future.
No agreement can succeed if Lebanon is expected to endure more death while waiting for promises to be honored.
The people killed in Nabatieh and across southern Lebanon cannot be treated as a footnote in diplomatic talks.
