Malaysian Activist Accuses Government of Hypocrisy Over Rare Earth Deal and Israel Policy
July 20, 2026
“If we wanna go down in history as one of those who stood on the right side, we should all play our part till the end.”
As Malaysian activist and engineer Brandon points out: “We should all hold our own country to a higher standard. If they made a stance, they should stand firm on it without any loopholes for a sellout or exceptions.”
Malaysia has always been a loud and proud supporter of the Palestinian cause on the global stage. But right now, a massive backdoor loophole is threatening to destroy that credibility entirely.
The Rot Behind the Lynas Deal:
Australian mining giant Lynas, which operates a massive rare earths processing plant right here in Malaysia, signed a $96 million supply deal with the U.S. Department of Defense. These processed rare earths are critical components for high-tech U.S. military hardware—the exact same weapons supply chains equipping the Israeli military’s devastating operations.
By allowing Lynas to process these strategic minerals on Malaysian soil for a foreign military, our infrastructure is effectively being tied to a war machine enabling genocide.
Talking tough in press releases means nothing if you allow corporate loopholes to supply the weapons dropping on children. If we want to go down in history as those who stood on the right side, we have to play our part until the end.
Head over to the link in @malaysian_protest_4_palestine’s bio to sign the petition. Demand total transparency, a halt to these military exports, and an end to the hypocrisy.
