Indigenous Americans—the original people of this continent—are facing detention simply for being brown-skinned under indiscriminate enforcement operations.
In an era where videos of enforcement actions spread rapidly online, transparency is essential. When authorities exercise extraordinary powers, the public has a right to know who is carrying them out and under what legal authority.
If someone can be stopped or detained simply because they are perceived to “”look foreign,”” every American should be concerned.
No one should fear being questioned or detained because of their appearance or heritage. Equal protection under the law applies to everyone.
