Yemeni Jewish Activist Renounces Israeli Passport and Reopens Debate Over Yemenite Children Affair
September 20, 2026Noa’s family were Yemeni Jews — brought to Israel, then two babies on her grandfather’s side and one on her grandmother’s were taken. One nurse showed mercy and gave the baby back. The other two, gone.
This is the Yemenite Children Affair: over 1,000 documented cases, mostly Yemeni and other Mizrahi Jewish babies, told to their mothers they had died, quietly handed instead to wealthier Ashkenazi families who wanted children. Decades of denial. Sealed files, not due to open until 2071. In 2021, Israel finally offered financial reparations — but never a full admission of what actually happened.
Noa had two passports. She gave one back. Not because she doesn’t understand what it means to be Jewish and displaced because her own family lived it, at the hands of the very state that claims to protect Jewish people.
When even the state’s own victims say “not in my name,” that’s not an outside attack on Zionism. That’s a family telling you what it actually cost them.
