“Priests Against Genocide” March Through Rome Urging Catholic Church to Take Stronger Stand on Gaza

“PRIESTS AGAINST GENOCIDE” MARCHED TO THE VATICAN. THEY BROUGHT A SHROUD WITH 300 CHILDREN’S NAMES ON IT.
150 Catholic priests, friars, nuns, and three bishops, from five continents, walked down Via della Conciliazione toward St. Peter’s Square, carrying olive branches and a long white shroud. Written across it, in red and black ink: roughly 300 Palestinian and Lebanese children organizers say were killed by the Israeli military — after ceasefires had already been declared.
They didn’t stop at the Vatican. They marched on to the Palestinian and Lebanese embassies, then to the Rome headquarters of an Italian defense manufacturer that helps arm the war they’re protesting.
This is a network of over 2,500 priests and bishops worldwide, invoking Pope Francis by name, the same pope who called Gaza’s Holy Family Parish almost every night of the war, until his own church was struck by an Israeli shell.
A retired Palestinian patriarch’s letter was read aloud to the marchers: “Here, now, death reigns everywhere. Hatred is multiplied and blood is still shed.”
When the Church’s own clergy say the word “genocide” out loud and march for it, that’s not politics. That’s conscience refusing to stay silent.
