UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband Condemns Israeli War Crimes in Gaza and West Bank, Vows Action
September 30, 2026
“WE HEAR YOU. YOU WERE RIGHT.”
AFTER YEARS OF MASS PROTESTS, PRESSURE AND OUTRAGE OVER PALESTINE, BRITAIN’S FOREIGN SECRETARY HAS FINALLY SAID IT OUT LOUD.
At the Labour Party Conference, Ed Miliband acknowledged millions of people who have protested over Palestine, telling them: “We hear you. You were right.” He then directly condemned ethnic cleansing in the West Bank, evidence of war crimes in Gaza, and Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestine.
And he didn’t stop at words.
Miliband announced that Britain would ban imports from illegal Israeli settlements and disrupt British finance, construction and services supporting those settlements.
Think about that.
For years, Palestinians and their supporters were told to protest quietly. To wait. To trust diplomacy. To stop “making everything political.”
They kept marching anyway.
And now the British government is openly acknowledging that the people demanding action over Palestine were right to raise the alarm.
But here’s the part that cannot be forgotten:
WORDS ARE NOT ENOUGH.
A government can condemn Israeli actions in Gaza from a conference stage. The real test is what happens next — arms, trade, diplomatic protection, sanctions and accountability.
Because Palestinians don’t need another carefully worded speech.
THEY NEED JUSTICE.
THEY NEED ACCOUNTABILITY.
THEY NEED PALESTINE TO BE FREE.

English Script:
Ed Miliband: And I, and I want to say to the millions of people in this country and indeed elsewhere, who have been moved and outraged by the plight of the Palestinian people. We hear you. You were right. And under Andy’s leadership, we have reset our approach. We call out ethnic cleansing by the settler terrorists in the West Bank. We call out the evidence of war crimes in Gaza. We call out Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestine. And we match words with action. We will ban the import of goods from illegal settlements. We will disrupt the supply lines of British finance, British construction and British services for illegal settlements. And when it comes to the attempt to destroy the two state solution, this party, this movement, this government says we will not let you succeed.
