Jewish Voice for Peace Rabbis: Criticizing Israel Is Not Antisemitic
October 4, 2026
“CRITIQUING ISRAEL’S ACTIONS IS NOT ANTISEMITIC. QUITE THE OPPOSITE.”
At a PalFest event in New York, Morgan Bassichis of Jewish Voice for Peace-NY read a message from the Co-Chairs of JVP’s own Rabbinical Council — rabbis speaking from within Jewish tradition, not outside it, making the case that real opposition to antisemitism and real opposition to Zionism’s policies aren’t contradictions. They’re the same commitment.
This is a message from 2023 that hasn’t aged, it’s only become more relevant. The charge of antisemitism gets weaponized constantly to shut down conversation before it starts. Rabbis saying otherwise, publicly, from inside their own faith, carries a weight that’s hard to dismiss.
You can love your tradition and still refuse silence in its name. That’s not a contradiction. That’s integrity.
