Documents Allegedly Link Lebanese Banker Nabil Sehnaoui to 1990 Israeli Settler Takeover of St John’s Hospice

A SACRED CHRISTIAN LANDMARK, ALLEGEDLY HANDED TO ISRAELI SETTLERS.
New documents allegedly link Lebanese banker Nabil Sehnaoui to the 1990 takeover of St John’s Hospice, right next to the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, by settlers from Ateret Cohanim.
According to the documents shared by @beirutpolitics, Sehnaoui bought the hospice as a “devout Christian,” then allegedly handed it over to the settlers at the dawn of Holy Week. Christianity’s most sacred ground, passed into the hands of a settler group built to move Jews into the Old City.
The takeover itself is not in dispute. In April 1990, about 150 settlers moved into the 72-room hospice in the Christian Quarter, and the story made headlines around the world.
Claiming faith is one thing. Handing over one of Christianity’s holiest places to those who want it emptied of Christians is another. Documents like these, if they hold up, strip every mask off.
The sources listed in the post: archives of The New York Times, The Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times and The Jerusalem Post, records of Israel’s High Court of Justice, and the Institute for Palestine Studies (1990).
It’s one of the most shameful property deals in Jerusalem’s history. Shame on him & his son.
