SHAME ON BERLIN.
Brandenburg Gate flew Nazi flags during the Holocaust. Now it’s lit up for a government the world’s top court says may be committing genocide.
1941: swastikas draped across the gate as Nazi Germany murders six million Jews.
2026: Germany bathes that same gate in Israeli blue and white. Meanwhile, the International Court of Justice has already ruled it’s “plausible” that Israel’s conduct in Gaza violates the Genocide Convention. The UN’s own Special Rapporteur, Francesca Albanese, has formally used the word genocide. More than 70,000 Palestinians dead. A third of them children.
“”Never again”” was supposed to mean never again looking away while a government does this to a people. Instead, Germany lit up the one monument that watched the last genocide unfold beneath its own roof to stand behind the government now facing that same accusation at the Hague.
Shame on Berlin. The gate remembers. The question is whether anyone lighting it up tonight does.
