Australian National University Students Vote to Cut Hebrew University Ties and Divest From Arms Manufacturers
October 12, 2026✊ ANU STUDENTS SAY NO TO COMPLICITY
Hands up, in the open, in front of everyone. Students at one of Australia’s top universities voted to demand their university cut institutional ties with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and pull its money out of arms manufacturers, in solidarity with Palestine.
They aren’t asking for much. They’re asking that the place they study, and pay to study at, not invest in weapons or partner with institutions tied to Israel’s military actions against Palestinians. Supporters of divestment say universities should make sure their investments and partnerships don’t help fund military operations linked to human rights violations.
It’s a student-led push to make the university look at where its money goes, and it’s growing across Australian campuses.
The students have spoken. Now it’s the university’s turn to answer.
