On May 13, 2026, 16-year-old Yusuf Ali Yusuf Kaabneh was shot and killed by Israeli occupation forces while trying to recover his family’s stolen livestock. This wasn’t a clash, it was a coordinated attack by settler militias backed by the full power of the Israeli military.
Armed settler militias descended on the villages of Sinjil and Jiljilya, north of Ramallah, stealing hundreds of sheep, cattle, and even tractors.When Yusuf Kaabneh attempted to bring back his family’s stolen sheep, Israeli soldiers opened fire on him. He died from a gunshot wound shortly after. Video evidence from the scene confirms that Israeli forces didn’t just stand by; they actively protected the settlers as they loaded stolen animals into trailers. Yusuf is one of at least 47 Palestinians killed by Israeli forces or settlers in the West Bank so far in 2026—many of them teenagers.
The strategy is clear: destroy the livelihoods of Palestinian families to force them off their land. They took his family’s livelihood, and when he tried to stop them, they took his life.
