ISRAEL EMPLOYS DELIBERATE POLICY OF BURNING LEBANON’S GREENERY
July 11, 2024Nasser Yassin, Lebanon’s Minister of Environment, highlights the deliberate approach by Israel to destroy Lebanon’s greenery.
“The latest estimate is more than 1250 hectares… It is equivalent to twice the total burned areas during the past year and the year before that… And the Israeli enemy, during these months, has deliberately burned more than twice the amount of all forest fires and green cover in Lebanon in one year.”
Israel has violated international law constantly, not just with the genocide they’ve waged in Gaza, but along its northern border with Lebanon. They have continued to violate Lebanon’s airspace, but have also deployed white phosphorus several times in an attempt to destroy Lebanon’s environment. This will have long-term consequences on Lebanon and its reconstruction.
