Andrew Feinstein Links Israel’s System to Apartheid in New Islam Channel Interview
April 20, 2026
In a brilliant and haunting interview on Islam Channel, Jewish activist and former South African politician Andrew Feinstein delivers a powerful analysis of the current crisis.
Feinstein, who worked alongside Nelson Mandela to dismantle South African apartheid, brings an unmatched historical perspective to the struggle in Gaza. He isn’t just calling for a ceasefire, he is identifying a fundamental shift in the global order. For Feinstein, the sheer brutality of the actions in Gaza has planted the seeds of the end for the Israeli state in its current, supremacist form.

ِAndrew Feinstein: ِI am a great believer that not only must the genocide end, not only apartheid in Israel Palestine end, but there needs to be accountability and justice for the tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of people murdered by the State of Israel. And I honestly believe, probably because of my own history in South Africa, that it’s in these moments of the greatest darkness. And Gaza has been probably the darkest moment in my almost 62 years on the planet. Little bits of light start to emerge, and I honestly believe that in the genocide in Gaza lie the seeds of the end of the state of Israel as we know it. And to be honest, the way the State of Israel has behaved, what it has done to Palestinian people, it doesn’t deserve to survive in its present form. I believe that the land that is historically Palestine, that, like South Africa experienced what we describe as settler colonialism, from Europeans coming to that land, believing it was a land without people, for a people without land. What we have in South Africa today is one democracy, and I believe that Israel Palestine can and should be the same. And I believe that the tragedy, the indescribable trauma of Gaza will have been the seeds of that.
