Israeli Forces Advance Beyond Litani River and Raise Flag Over Historic Beaufort Castle
June 2, 2026
OCCUPATION EXPANDS?
As Gaza burns and southern Lebanon continues to suffer under relentless attacks, new footage now shows Israeli forces raising their flags over Beaufort Castle after crossing north of the Litani River.
For many Lebanese, this is not a symbolic act.
It is a warning.
A warning that the ambitions driving this war may extend far beyond “security” and “self-defence.”
Every flag planted on occupied land sends a message.
Every military advance deeper into Lebanon raises new questions.
And every violation of Lebanese sovereignty pushes the region further toward instability.
For months, Israel has bombed villages, destroyed homes, displaced families and reduced entire communities to rubble.
Now images of Israeli soldiers standing atop one of Lebanon’s most historic landmarks have reignited fears that territorial expansion remains part of the calculation.
How much more Lebanese land must be entered?
How many more villages must be emptied?
How many more civilians must be displaced?
Lebanon is not a military playground.
It is a sovereign nation.
And the international community’s silence in the face of repeated violations only encourages more of the same.
A castle today.
What tomorrow?
