A Marine shoots an unarmed, wounded Iraqi man point-blank in a Fallujah mosque, caught by an embedded NBC cameraman, the military’s own footage.
Haditha, 2005: Marines kill 24 civilians, including women and children, after a roadside bomb kills one of their own. Four Marines are charged with murder. In the end, no one serves a single day in prison.
Baghdad, 2007: a US Apache helicopter opens fire on a group that includes two Reuters journalists and the people who come to rescue the wounded, including children in a van. The Pentagon confirms the footage is real. WikiLeaks later releases it to the world as “Collateral Murder.” The White House calls it “extremely tragic.” No one is prosecuted for it either.
This isn’t speculation or enemy propaganda. This is footage the U.S. military itself verified as authentic and still, accountability never followed.
When the evidence is confirmed and the outcome is still nothing, that’s not an isolated failure. That’s a system working exactly as designed to protect itself.
