ARE BILLIONAIRES REALLY TO BLAME? A VERY HONEST EXPERT WEIGHS IN.
The questions are simple, and so are the answers.
Who keeps all the wealth while the cost of living gets worse? Billionaires. Who owns the utilities, the corporations and the media? Billionaires. Who lobbies politicians to work in their interests, and their interests alone? Billionaires. Who buys out rivals, kills competition and makes every product worse for everyone? Billionaires. Who drives the fossil fuel industry that’s making the planet harder to live on? Billionaires.
So why is everything so bad at the moment?
“Oh, hold on. You nearly made me say ‘billionaires,’ didn’t you? Ha ha. I was this close.”
And then the “industry leader” gives the correct answer: immigrants.
It’s satire, and it lands because it’s how a lot of public debate actually works. Point at the people with the least power, and nobody looks up at the people with the most. The joke is on all of us for falling for it.
