Israel Accused of Killing Medics in South Lebanon a Day After Washington Talks

On Wednesday, April 15, 2026, just 24 hours after historic direct talks between Lebanese and Israeli ambassadors at the U.S. State Department, the Israeli military launched a series of targeted, back-to-back strikes on rescue teams in Mayfadoun.
The triple-tap strike killed at least four paramedics and wounded six others. In a move of calculated cruelty, the IDF reportedly targeted the first team of responders, then struck the second team attempting to rescue their colleagues, and finally hit a third group of medics from the Islamic Risala Scout Association and Islamic Health Authority.
On April 14, Ambassadors Nada Hamadeh Moawad and Yechiel Leiter sat face-to-face with Secretary of State Marco Rubio. While Lebanon pleaded for an immediate ceasefire, Israel’s response was delivered the next morning via Hellfire missiles.
The Lebanese Health Ministry condemned the massacre as a flagrant crime, noting that Israel has now killed over 91 healthcare workers since the invasion began on March 2.
Following the strikes, Israeli Army Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir visited the border and declared all of South Lebanon up to the Litani River a terrorist kill zone, effectively admitting that there is no distinction between combatants and life-saving medics.
Israel’s actions in Mayfadoun prove that diplomacy is being used as a smoke screen for a ground invasion that respects no international law and no human life. You cannot negotiate with a regime that greets a peace envoy with the murder of her people’s protectors.
